off tonight 02:00
Some nights I'm on the stage, and others I'm off and in the empty space, the thought of you and the thoughts won't be erased, love once we're face to face the thoughts we've had of me and you [chorus] I hope that you can hear me here and god I hope your ringer's on cuz I'm off, to, night [verse 2] cast a net into the future and see what you can catch a foggy fuzzy patch of something new cuz the time won't be erased, love once we're face to face the time it took to get to you [chorus] I hope that you can hear me here and god I hope your ringer's on cuz I'm off, to, night [humming]

[intro (spoken quote from the graphic novel Solanin)] the cold winds blow much more meaninglessly than they did last year incoherent thoughts drift in and out of my mind welcome home. [instrumental] ten feet beside myself, just like you used to be I've caught, the bends, that took you it's strange, you've been, here a dozen times before, but now that I'm finally here there's nothing to hold on to (nothing reminds me of you) [chorus] dissociate, can't shake the feeling you left notes on the ceiling on the way up, 'fore you left somewhere up here I swear I can almost read it [instrumental] the rhythm of rain against the window the rhythm of a summer that we walked in can only be heard now and not felt from within [chorus x2] [intro]

about

So why the title *Fated To Pretend?*
It's a phrase that came to mind before I remembered that it's already an MGMT lyric. It's a good slogan. In the hyperpop, glitchcore, and post-sewerslvt breakcore scenes, there's this, there must be a center or centers of ideas where everything overlaps - lots of people using Lain imagery to represent themselves, people using more and more anime simulacrum (simulacrum! h0ly h3ck I sound pretentious), being hella gay, lyrics about addictions to whatever's needed to function with depression, etc etc etc. There's this feeling I got that a lot of the people who came of age during and after quarantine all had this "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" mentality. So like, the name fits.

I mean, that's the current meaning of it to me *now*. When I made it it made sense as a title that would suck internet lurker folks like me in. It was originally going to be all vocaloid songs. Like, I really enjoy vocaloid but completely dispise the culture and the majority of lyrics that come from it... It needed more depth. I hated shallow vocaloid music and I wanted to make my own, so that's where the name originally came from. Absolutely no songs about me, or influenced by my life, just fictional songs with more depth and substance than what's already out there.
